Donna is a VB bookseller and used book buyer. You can see some of her staff picks by clicking here.
Are you in the loop with the Village Books Readcycle program? It's a great way to catch the latest titles without breaking your budget.
You may be waiting for the books on your wish list to be released in paperback, but this may take up to a year! Yet there's a good chance you could find a mint condition used copy, right in the store, at significant savings over the regular price. These carry a blue dot on the spine, and a blue label on the cover, and can be found on the shelves right next to the new ones, or on one of the two "recently arrived" used book carts located right inside our doors. Not finding it? You can ask a friendly bookseller to search the database and see if we have it in stock. If you do decide to splurge on that new title, you can consider selling it back to us after reading, at our used book buy-back counter. While we can't guarantee that we will buy back any title at any time, we can often offer store credit on current, like-new books at up to 30% of the original cover price. Add to this the savings earned on the Reader Rewards rebate program, and it looks very budget-friendly. You can then use that credit for another new or used title, and watch the savings multiply. Lighten up your personal library or keep it fresh with
your latest favorites.
It's economical, community-spirited, and green, allowing all of us to cut back on shipping costs and resources, share our savings with our neighbor (the next reader in the loop), and participate in a vibrant local community of passionate readers.
How about adding Readcycling to your list of New Year's resolutions? It's a win-win proposition with wide-reaching benefits.
