For a bookseller, today is the calm before the storm. Tomorrow is "Black Friday," so named as it is the day that retailers traditionally move into the black (profitability) for the year. We're crossing our fingers. It's been a leisurely day for Dee and me. We decorated our tree this morning. I know, it seems really early, right? But, it will get nuts beginning tomorrow and who knows if we'd ever find the time or energy to get it done. Most of our ornaments are souvenirs of our travels so decorating the tree is a trip down memory lane.
Soon we'll join friends for an afternoon Thanksgiving feast and great camaraderie. We're taking our hosts a book/CD that we've just fallen in love with, Blue Moo by Sandra Boynton. It may have been written for kids but I'll guarantee it will touch that kid in anyone. The songs, written by Boynton and Mike Ford--with a little help from some of the singers--are performed by such notables as Brian Wilson, Neil Sedaka, Sha Na Na, Gerry and the Pacemakers, Steve Lawrence, Patti Lupone, and B.B. King (likely my favorite tune on the CD). This would be a great gift for nearly anyone on anybody's list.
Happy Thanksgiving!
